about Pathfinder
In April of 2022 Dutchess County purchased “Camp Nooteeming,” a 272-acre camp in the Town of Pleasant Valley, from Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The County conducted a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) process for a facility operator. Pathfinder Foundation, a recognized 501c3 charitable foundation providing a blend of youth development services locally, was chosen as the camp operator for the next 15 years, with an option to extend.
The County partners with Pathfinder Foundation for the management and operation of the camp, with the intent of creating a financially sustainable operational model. As a Dutchess County property, major maintenance and capital needs will be addressed through the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the County Legislature. Routine maintenance, care and the cost of programming is taken on by Pathfinder Foundation through the proceeds raised by operations at the camp.
Many more youth development opportunities year-round will be executed by the Director of Youth Development. The Youth Development Cabin will be the year-round workshop and administrative center, integral to the oversight of Camp Pathfinder and future programming through the Pathfinder Foundation. Partnerships will function as an integral piece of youth programming alongside schools, local businesses, organizations, municipalities, and other key community collaborators.
